Camp Director
Position Summary:
The camp director is responsible for the administrative oversight of all aspects of their camp’s location. He / she is accountable for the supervision, care and welfare of all program participants and staff as well as timely and professional communication and problem solving with participant’s families.
He / she will schedule, plan and implement all aspects of day-to-day programming and curriculum. They must demonstrate daily initiative and strong leadership to ensure a high level of staff morale through training, and ongoing professional development. They will schedule and lead regular meetings and observe all aspects of the program (including but not limited to: schedules, itineraries, personnel issues, camp safety, budget, evacuation plans, meals, and overnight supervision). They will also allocate time each day for checking in with individual campers and staff members to ensure that they always have ‘a finger on the pulse’ of their camp at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Possess strong background in administration of youth programs, preferably residential (e.g. overnight camps or boarding environments).
• Demonstrate a healthy lifestyle that he / she is passionate about role modeling to staff, program participants and their families.
• Excellent leadership skills within a dynamic and challenging environment
• A Master’s degree in a related field or commensurate experience

SALARY:
$6500 – $9000 for the summer including some pre-camp work.
Clinical Director
Position Summary:
Implement Well Balance’s clinical curriculum and modify as appropriate based on individual camper abilities and needs.
Key clinical responsibilities include utilizing CBT techniques to:
• Change camper’s fundamental ideas about hunger and their relationship with food.
• Identify thoughts that are likely to get in the way of healthy eating and activity changes and replace with healthier thoughts.
• Teach camper principals of self monitoring and journaling their daily food intake and activity levels.
• Problem solve with camper how to get though high risk situations such as eating out, eating at a party, etc.
• Develop a comprehensive plan with the camper detailing how they will be successful upon transition home with their diet and exercise regime.
• Support and encourage camper as they experience weight loss success at camp, and reinforce to camper that weight loss is achievable at home with implementation of plan.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Current clinical license as MFT, LCSW, Ph.D., or related discipline.
• Demonstrates a healthy lifestyle that he or she is passionate about role modeling to staff, program participants and their families
• A Master’s degree in a related field or commensurate experience
• Clear experience utilizing CBT techniques to help individuals achieve behavioral change. Weight loss treatment experience is not implicitly required, but experience helping individuals set and achieve measurable goals in a CBT setting is necessary.
• Camp counselor responsibilities are also a part of your job
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working with overweight / obese youth, preferably in a residential environment.
• Ability to teach a variety of group exercise classes is a plus (e.g. aerobics, kickboxing, yoga, water aerobics).
• Current First Aid and CPR certification

$5,000 - 8,000 for the summer with some pre-work prep reviewing camper enrollment forms.
Fitness Specialist /Trainer
Position Summary:
Implement Well Balance’s fitness curriculum and modify as appropriate based on individual camper abilities and needs. Must be able to instruct proper movement techniques to minimize injuries and maximize results for walking, running, calisthenics and other sport-specific activities. In addition, must be highly competent in the instruction and use of equipment found in a fitness center including cardiovascular and weight lifting machines as well as free weights.
Experience as an athletic trainer at the high school or collegiate level is highly desirable to prevent, manage and treat athletic injuries while ensuring participants remain as highly involved as possible while prioritizing safety at all times. Must be able to develop individualized fitness plans for each participant to follow both during and after camp. Finally, this position requires the ability to collaborate with other program areas to ensure a varied weekly fitness schedule for all campers that will maximize interest and motivation.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Current personal trainer and / or athletic trainer certification as well as certification (or commensurate experience to instruct specific group exercise classes)
• Demonstrates a healthy lifestyle that he or she is passionate about role modeling to staff, program participants and their families
• A Master’s degree in a related field or commensurate experience

Culinary and Nutrition Instructor
Position Summary:
Implement Well Balance’s culinary and nutrition curriculum as well as oversight of daily menu offerings and food preparation by dining services contractor. This position requires a highly organized individual to collaborate with other program areas in the scheduling of all culinary and nutrition classes and outings. Individual must be able to provide lead supervision and management of a small (10-15 participants) classroom of adolescents as well as provide training and supervision to other staff members who will help deliver the curriculum. An important component of this position is the ability to deliver both theoretical knowledge as well as ‘hands-on’ practical learning opportunities that are focused on the participants and their families bringing a new skill set to their home kitchens, menu planning and dining out scenarios at the completion of camp.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Experience teaching cooking and nutrition classes
• A Master’s degree in a related field or commensurate experience
• Serve-Safe certification.
• Experience managing a culinary and nutrition budget
• Demonstrates a healthy lifestyle that he or she is passionate about role modeling to staff, program participants and their families
• Camp counselor responsibilities are also a part of your job

Counselor/Instructors
Position Summary:
Individual must be able to ensure a physically and emotionally safe environment while consistently injecting a high-level of positive energy and enthusiasm into participant’s daily experience. Lead and collaborate with other staff to facilitate games, sports, initiatives and the orderly and timely movement of participants between daily activities.
High levels of organization, punctuality, empathy and responsible decision-making are required. Assist other program staff when working with specialist (fitness, culinary / nutrition) instructors. Supervise campers in the dorms (including overnight supervision), around campus and on field trips.
Minimum Qualifications:
• A bachelor’s degree in a related field or commensurate experience
• Demonstrates a healthy lifestyle that he or she is passionate about role modeling to staff, program participants and their families
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
• Current First Aid and CPR certification
• Experience working with overweight / obese youth, preferably in a residential environment.
• Previous camp experience at an overnight camp as a counselor or a participant is a plus.
• Any experience leading fitness programs (e.g. aerobics, swim classes, yoga, personal training) or cooking classes is a plus. If so, please specify.

Program Supervisor
Position Summary:
Supervise camp counselor staff, and campers in both the dormitory and camp-related activities. Works with the Camp Director to ensure ideal staff-to-camper ratio is always maintained, safety protocols are adhered to, and communication between WellBalance & the camper's families is always available.
