Not a Diet—but a Realistic Plan for Weight Loss

“I can’t stop eating.”
“I want to snack throughout the day.”
“I eat the wrong foods.”
“I eat healthy but can’t seem to lose weight.”

For many of us, our biology is our enemy, conspiring against us. Our biology is designed to store fat, but unlike thousands of years ago when food was scarce and we needed to hunt to gather it, now we can run to the local convenience store and load up on a day’s worth of calories for a couple bucks.

Weight Loss Science Made Simplelose weight

If you eat more calories than your body uses, the extra calories will be stored as excess body fat. However, when the number of calories burned exceeds the number of calories consumed, the body burns excess fat. It’s the mastery of this simple formula that WellBalance participants will learn to long term success. This mastery comes through motivation, education, practice, and learning all of the strategies taught at camp to keep the participant on track when they transition back home.

A pound of fat is about 3,500 calories. So in order to lose one pound of fat in a week, you have to do one of two things:

1. You must eat 3,500 fewer calories per week (500 fewer calories a day), or
2. You have to "burn off" an extra 3,500 calories.

The best way to lose weight and keep it off is to both eat fewer calories and be active. If you cut 1,000 calories from your diet each day and exercise enough to burn off 1,000 calories, that adds up to 2,000 fewer calories in one day. If you do this for 7 days, you can lose 4 pound of fat in a week.

No matter your situation with food, your biology is NOT your destiny. Every camper learns and lives The ME Plan based on decades of scientific research boiled down into simple ways to make lasting changes.

Your plan. Scientifically proven methods.
