Teen’s Weightloss Camp Healthy Journey

Fresh Air
She arrived like a blast of fresh air. Fedora hat on, California attitude, and bubbling over with enthusiasm.
“As her mom had indicated before her arrival, Kaitlin was struggling a little bit at home with her motivation to ‘do anything’. I was glad to see her arrive with a lot of enthusiasm. And while none of us are happy all the time, Kaitlin was always quick with a smile or a laugh.” John Taylor, TV Fit Coach Star and Program Director of camps, remembering those early days.
Loves to Dance
Zumba was the favorite activity at our teen weight loss camp, thanks in no small part to an excellent instructor, Cheri. Kaitlin showed particular skill and excitement for Zumba (“It was intimidating to dance next to her,” staff member Dillon once said). Cheri noticed Kaitlin’s improvement, and not just at Zumba, “Kaitlin arrived needing some direction. By the end of camp, Kaitlin wanted to take charge of her own weight loss and her own life. I think once she felt like she accomplished little steps, a quicker mile, lifting more weight, making more friends, she felt like finally, for once, she was the boss of her own destiny.”
Special Moments
We were proud to have Kaitlin share her 15th birthday with us at WellBalance. She was proud to be the center of attention while some campers sang her ‘Happy Birthday’!

Fitness Success
While Kaitlin lost more than 20 pounds at WellBalance (nearing her healthy weight), her most amazing success was reaching research-based targets for her age and gender across a variety of measures—including pulse rate, timed mile, sit & reach, bench, and vertical jump. These health improvements were seen in her 80.8% WellBalance Health Score improvement.
